The Factoría Cultural de Avilés opens its annual call for artistic production grants, in collaboration with the Bienal Climática (Avilés, 2026). An invitation to local, national and international artists to develop projects in residence that explore, through contemporary art, the cultural, social and ecological challenges of our time.
CALL MODALITIES
The call is open to individual artists or groups of artists over 18 years of age who can demonstrate at least two years of experience in disciplines such as visual arts, performing arts, literary arts or audiovisual arts. The call includes three participation modalities:
- Modality A: Up to six grants for individuals or groups of up to four members, born or registered in Asturias
- Category B: One grant for individuals from Spain (excluding Asturias), including accommodation.
- Category C: One grant for international artists (residents of Spain or elsewhere, not registered in Asturias), including accommodation..
Each grant amounts to €2,000, and accommodation is included in the municipal residence for national and international cases. Projects must be developed in 2025 and completed before 15 December. As part of the process, successful applicants will participate in an activity open to the public, such as a workshop, talk or masterclass, and will publicly present their work as part of the Bienal Climática programme in 2026.
RESIDENCY IN DIALOGUE WITH THE TERRITORY AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Factoría Cultural de Avilés, a former shirt factory, is once again becoming a space for artistic creation, coexistence and exchange. This year, the call is also part of a special collaboration with Bienal Climática, a pioneering event that seeks to promote artistic proposals focused on the climate crisis, sustainability and environmental resilience.
As part of this collaboration, special consideration will be given to projects that align with the Bienal Climática’s three thematic axes: the industry of the future, the rural world, and vernacular knowledge and food systems. Projects that engage with the industrial legacy of the Factoría Cultural de Aviléswill also be highly valued.
