These drift walks are the evolution of Walking Avilés, an invitation to travel the territory paying attention to other ways of being, conducted by the artist Elisa Cuesta in the framework of Critical Mapping for the Climate Biennial: a process of listening and sensitive mapping rooted in Avilés and its adjacent councils.

Led by people from the territory themselves who have participated in this process, these drifts walks propose walking together as a way of shifting the gaze, fine-tuning listening and thinking from the body and the encounter. Through them, the landscape of Avilés is revealed as a plot of scales, ecologies and affections accessible through routes that connect history, experience and observation.

Three itineraries designed in collaboration with experts and residents of Avilés are distilled from this process, exploring the industrial legacy of the city through its architecture, its productive infrastructures and the bodies of water that run through and activate them.
