Its strategic location reflects the historical relationship of Avilés with the estuary and with the maritime and commercial activities having to do with the port. Over time, the building lost its original function and was converted into a cultural space, integrating into the contemporary urban setting next to La Grapa footbridgeand the Niemeyer Centre. It currently hosts exhibitions and cultural activities, preserving its historical and urban value as part of the architectural heritage linked to Avilés’s port memory.
