INFO

The Portus Space occupies the old carpentry warehouse of the Ojeda and Aniceto shipyards, founded in 1897, and constitutes one of the examples of restoration of Avilés’s industrial and maritime heritage.

The building was part of the activity linked to the shipyards and the port’s development of the city, closely linked to the economic and industrial evolution of the estuary. Open to the public since 2019, the space operates as an interpretation centre for the port and the marine environment of Avilés, showing the industrial, natural and social transformation of the estuary through exhibitions, interactive resources and guided tours. It currently combines cultural, educational and heritage functions, connecting the industrial memory of the place with contemporary uses.
