In its early days, it also incorporated female education related to housework and weaving, and was the first master's school for qualified industrial technicians in Avilés. Throughout its history, the building has hosted different uses linked to the social and educational history of the city: it was the headquarters of the ENSIDESA Apprentice School, a secondary school and even a prison during the Civil War. Currently, the school operates under the patronage of the Arts and Crafts School, preserving its educational and cultural legacy as one of the historical training spaces of Avilés.
