Olmo Cuña (Vigo, 1983) pursues an artistic practice rooted in everyday experiences and a critical examination of the ways in which we engage with the territory through imagery. fiebre [fever] (2026) is an audiovisual installation centred on the Aboño Thermal Power Station in Carreño, Asturias, one of the last remaining coal-fired power stations in Spain, which is currently transitioning to green hydrogen. The project treats this area as a reflection of a situation of global turmoil. The title refers to different kinds of fever: the fever of the body reacting to an infection, the fever of the planet, and the extractivist "fevers" that have shaped this and other territories for generations. As part of the Daniel & Nina Carasso Foundation’s "Arte por venir" [Art to Come] programme, Cuña set up a working group comprising residents of Aboño, former industrial workers and local stakeholders to explore the power station’s transformation process through site visits and Super 8 film-making workshops. The installation brings together the films produced —which have been altered using analogue toning and dyeing techniques— alongside materials resulting from the collective process, such as photographs and drawings.
